When The Weight Feels Like Too Much
Linkin Park — “Heavy” | Lyrics & Longing
“Why is everything so heavy?”
"My guilt has overwhelmed me like a burden too heavy to bear."
When Chester Bennington sang these words, he wasn’t just crafting a catchy hook
He was voicing a reality that millions know all too well.
The constant weight.
The battles inside your own head.
The feeling that every step takes more energy than you have.
For some, “Heavy” isn’t just a song — it’s a mirror. It puts language to the heaviness of depression, anxiety, and the invisible battles that church culture sometimes struggles to talk about.
That’s why I’m here.
Lyrics & Longing is about entering the conversation where it’s already happening — in the songs people connect with — and showing how those longings point to a God that listens.
I’ve been feeling the weight too.
Not because I’m doubting the call, but because I feel the cost of it.
Emotionally. Spiritually. Financially.
Every resource, every ounce of peace I used to coast on, is being poured out.
Not for comfort.
Not for applause.
But because I know this matters.
It’s not burnout — it’s the ache of carrying something that matters before you can see how it ends.
It’s choosing faith when logic would walk away.
And yet, even Paul — who saw miracles and planted churches — wrote:
"We were crushed and overwhelmed beyond our ability to endure, and we thought we would never live through it."
David, the man after God’s own heart, prayed:
"Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad?"
Here’s how Jesus replies:
"Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest."
Even when life feels heavy. And when you feel like you’re carrying more than you can handle — you’re not meant to carry it alone.
The weight isn’t forever. The heaviness isn’t the whole story.
There’s hope. There’s help. There’s healing — Find it here:
